Notes

  • We resume following a brief exchange with the bounty hunters who are chasing Sp’op
  • The party fights the bounty hunters, downing Zal’gor and Kraxus
    • Crank managed to escape, narrowly dodging getting charmed by Abarrane
    • During the fight, Arcturus manages to catch back up with the party
  • Upon seeing the bounty hunter threat taken care of, Sp’op emerges from his cave he was taking cover in, and thanks the party for their help
    • He offers a personal shield, which was left behind in his ship, as payment
  • Before leaving the area, Sp’op finishes Zal’gor and Kraxus, whom the party had stabilized and bound, by slicing their throats
  • After continuing back down to Pinecrest Farms, the party camps out under the big oak tree
    • While setting up camp, Geir inquires about the origin of Abarrane’s powers, to which she seems confused by his accusations of deals with devils, wizardly training, etc
  • During the night, Abarrane feels a presence watching her, but is unable to figure out why, or see anything nearby
  • The next morning, the party takes their boat back to Waverly
    • Abarrane has a new dress on made from a very high quality material
    • They checked in with Duke Geren Masto, and also dropped Sp’op off, so he can lay low in town, away from his crashed ship, which may draw unwanted attention to the area
    • They inform Masto that the light in the sky was a red herring. He suggests checking the library in Fairhaven for new potential leads
  • The party then departs from Waverly, traveling at a brisk pace through Oakrest and on to Fairhaven
    • Along the way, traffic is light and they make good time
  • The party seeks out the Fairhaven inn, and purchases good food and rooms
    • While eating, Arcteurus asks about his fellow traveling companion’s stories
    • Abarrane offers that she studies calligraphy, but took up a job record keeping/accounting for the Steed and Scroll since calligraphy alone does not pay too well
    • Auro mentions he handles deliveries for the Steed & Scroll, both on land and sea
    • Arcteurus states that he’s out looking for supplies for his crew, but also enjoying a little leisure time
    • Geir says he sells ice during the summer, and helps citizens of Oakrest file their taxes during the winter. They have paid 30% less in taxes for the past 6 years
    • Geir then asks Abarrane how she likes the Celestara Grove, to which she replies it is very beautiful, but also seems to imply it isn’t too exciting
  • Abarrane then changes the subject to ask about people’s families
    • Everyone else decides they would rather go to bed than talk about their families
  • The next morning Abarrane has on another fancy new dress
  • Geir finds an owl familiar named Altair
  • The party goes to check out the library
    • Geir finds and copies a shatter scroll
    • The rest of the party tries to find information about magical crystals
      • They learn that magical crystals can serve many different purposes
      • Even the hardest known crystal can be scratched by Adamantium without damaging the Adamantium
      • The crystal under Waverly definitely did more damage to the Adamantium wedge than it did to the crystal, so it is significantly stronger than any known crystal
    • They then direct their search to celestial matters
      • They learn that Coatles were created long ago by an unknown god, and are typically found protecting something, and are capable of speaking
      • They also learned that everything was created by primordial energy, including the gods and mortal souls
      • Some motes of rogue energy also shot off forming powerful unpredictable beings
      • Not much is known about these beings, because none have been encountered in millennia
      • It is known that some of them were benevolent and some were evil
