We start in Oakrest, with the delivery crew (Abarrane, Auro, and Kronq) coming in on the road from Fairhaven
In the market, Geir converses with Merideth, whom he is delivering a fresh block of ice. She pays him 2 gold, as well as an apple and potato
Across the way, at the general store, Arcturus purchases a bag of oranges, 100 ft of rope, and 20 nails for 8 gold
The cart crew leaves their cart outside the inn and goes inside
Geir sees their nice cart outside the inn and investigates it, noting that the rope securing the contents appears to be magical somehow
Arcturus notices Geir inspecting the cart and walks up to question him, but then thinks Geir is trying to sell the cart to him
Geir and Arcturus both enter the inn as well
Geir gets his regular drink from the inn keeper, Ricky Stice
Abarrane writes down Ricky’s name, who is very impressed by the calligraphy
She also writes his name again on a little piece of paper and hands it to him
She asks Ricky if he knows Oliver Hayes, a famous playwriter.
He says he does know him, but not too well. He hasn’t seen any of his plays.
Ricky mentions the Chauntea festival happening tonight
The party enters the town that evening to partake in the Chauntea festivities
Geir overhears a local named Kieran Abernathy talking about a bright light and a loud boom he saw the night before, to the north east
Arcturus notices a medical tent set up by some trees near the festivities and walks over to investigate and see if they need any help
They tell him to walk the crowds and see if anyone looks like they need help
Abarrane notices Oliver Hayes talking about his latest play with two others by the corner of a building
She tries to work up the courage to approach
Geir notices her pacing about and casts a minor illusion of glasses with a nose and fake moustache on her, and tells her it will make her look more approachable
She walks up to Oliver, who is very confused by the fake nose and moustache, but it disappears as soon as she speaks
He thinks it was a joke, and laughs at it, calling it clever
Oliver mentions he has a new play premiering in Fairhaven soon, and that if she is in town she should find him and he’ll get her tickets to see him perform in it
Abarrane also gets his autograph, handing him her quill to write it
Arcturus spots a halfling who looks like he isn’t feeling too hot
He was dehydrated, and drank too much sweet apple cider
Arcturus heals him, and tells him to drink more water
Across the way the party hears a drunkard try to steal someone’s sweet roll, but he gets knocked out trying
The party minds their own business
Eira Pritchard, a local who volunteers as a medic, drags him by one arm to the medical tent to treat him
Eira and Arcturus talk about healing people, and agree to a dance before the night is over
The party then rests in the inn, before heading out in the morning for Waverly
Along the way, a band of thieves try to stop the cart to rob the party, but is easily taken care of
One unarmed thief runs away
Upon arriving in Waverly, Kronq promptly takes the cart to the Duke’s palace
Duke Geren Masto meets kronq and the rest of the party inside the palace and thanks them for their hard work
He pays 150 gold for the delivery, and offers to let the party stay at the inn for free
He will also be using his new delivery in the morning, down in the mines, and offers to let the party see, as it should be quite a spectacle
The party then goes to the inn, except for Kronq who stays in the palace
In the inn, Geir talks with Welgian Baffles, the inn keeper
Welgian invented a type of pancake that has ridges, making it crisper, and allowing it to hold syrup better. He calls these “Ridge Cakes”
Geir mentions he could make smaller thinner ridge cakes that are cooked longer so they get hard, and shape them into a cone shape before they cool, to hold cream in them. Welgian loves this idea, and wants to partner with Geir on this idea.
Geir invests two gold to help Welgian with R&D
The party then retires for the night
While trancing, Geir senses a powerful chaotic force probe his mind, before quickly retreating
